Learning to Read Your Bible

"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path."

-Psalm 119:105
Beginning to read the Bible can be scary, confusing, and intimidating - but it doesn't have to be!  Follow these steps and you'll be off and running on the adventure of connecting with God through the incredible story of the Bible.

Step 1: Watch this video: "How And Why Should I Read The Bible"

This video is from the Alpha Course that we occasionally run for people that are new to faith or exploring faith.  It offers a great insight into what the Bible is and how to approach it.

Step 2: Download the Bible

The best Bible app for smartphones, tablets, and computers is made by YouVersion.  It's totally free and available HERE.
The desktop version that does not require downloading anything is HERE.

Step 3: Choose a translation

There are many great translations out there.  Here are 2 great options:
New International Version (NIV) This is a solid, clear, faithful translation and it's what we teach from at TMV.
The Message (MSG) This is a creative and very easy to read version of the Bible, which is hugely popular today.

Step 4: Start a reading plan

A Bible reading plan is totally optional, but it REALLY helps!  There are tons of plans to choose from HERE.
The plan that many in our church are doing together is the Bible in One Year Plan.
