Thoughts During COVID-19

By Susan Higgs

This corona virus has been a long lesson of patience and endurance. I think it brings out the worst in us at times because we cannot control our environment around us as we are used to.  We like to plan, organize, and know what is next in our day.  At times we see our true character and realize that we are not as Christ-like as we ought to be or thought we were. We find ourselves speaking out words we did not expect of ourselves, then realize what is in our heart. Luke 6:45 says, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

We forget to ask God to plan our day and lead us by his Holy Spirit. So, we make our plans for the day and we get exhausted trying to execute those plans. I've been learning to yield to Him so He can use me as a vessel for His purposes in my days. The Corona hibernation has caused me to slow down and evaluate my life with God and my walk with Jesus. It also has helped me to evaluate the importance of praying for my marriage, my family, and my friendships.  Jim has learned to work as a team with me, something I have always wanted, and helped me to get those projects done that needed to be done around the house.
I thank God for my husband, my children, my grandchildren, and all of my friends. Relationship is what God is looking for and those will go forward into heaven. My relationship with God has grown from the time I have been spending with Him, studying His word, and praying.  I can trust GOD for everything in my life.. I know that all things work together for good for those who love God so He will see us through this Corona hibernation. (Romans 8:28) He is changing my heart, once again to look more like Jesus and sharpening my spiritual man to hear His voice more clearly and see what the Holy Spirit is doing around me so I can join Him with His work.  He is training me to guard my mouth and use words to encourage and not speak frustration.  To live each day with heaven in mind and following Jesus is my goal for the rest of my life; enrich my relationships and my walk with GOD. Thank you Lord for all of this slow down time because You want the very best for all of us. Be still and know that I am GOD.
